Guidance for donors


Please be informed that NHSL- Colombo has not delegated any external party to accept donations nor to coordinate donations on behalf of the hospital.


Please contact for further clarifications/ complaints.

 

1. Direct donation of medicines/ consumables/ medical equipment to NHSL- Colombo

 

You may directly hand over your donations to the office of the Deputy Director General (DDG), NHSL Colombo.

or,

You may direct the local supplier to hand over the donation to the office of the Deputy Director General (DDG), NHSL Colombo

 

Please hand over or email (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) the following documents along with your donation.

 

    a. Letter from the donor indicating the details of donated items.

    b. Pro-forma invoice(s) of all donated items.

 

Donors and/ or their representatives can be present at the time of handing over the donation.

Every donation shall be acknowledged officially.

 

2. Donation of essential medicines/ consumables/ medical equipment from overseas.


Overseas donors are requested to contact the hospital (click here) prior to finalizing their donations.


It is informed that, in order to facilitate donations from overseas, the following documents may be needed.


    - Letter from the donor indicating the details of all donated items

    - Pro forma Invoice(s)

    - Quality Certificates and Analytical Report of all items (if available)

 

Donors and/or their representatives can be present at the time of handing over the donation. Every donation shall be acknowledged officially.

 

3. Direct funds


It is informed that all financial donations need to be channelled to the Ministry of Health Special Foreign Currency Account in favour of NHSL Colombo.

Welcome to National Hospital

 

Centre of Excellence in Health Care.

 

The National Hospital of Sri Lanka (NHSL),  situated in Colombo on a 32-acre block of land, is the largest teaching hospital in Sri Lanka and the final referral centre in the country, consisting of 3000 beds. it is the training centre for undergraduates and postgraduate trainees of the Faculty of Medicine. The nursing training school, Colombo, PBS, and Schools of Radiography, Pharmacy, Cardiograph, physiotherapy and occupational therapy are also affiliated with the National Hospital.

Donations to NHSL from United States

 

The U.S. Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Julie Chung paid a visit to the National Hospital of Sri Lanka, Colombo on 14 June 2022 to officially handed over much-needed medical consumables to the hospital donated by SLMANA Inc. The donation was accepted by Dr W.K. Wickremasinghe, DDG-NHSL and Dr Indika de Lanerolle, Consultant Emergency Physician. The United States, being an ally of Sri Lanka has always assisted the Sri Lankan public in times of crisis and the donated items shall facilitate the provision of continuous healthcare through NHSL-Colombo.
