If you are fortunate enough to have the kind of skilled, competent and loyal former pupils and present colleagues that I happen to have, you may have the opportunity to realize the unbelievable potential that the National Hospital of Sri Lanka (NHSL) has for providing excellent medical care. My most recent encounter with the NHSL, convinces me beyond any manner of doubt that the best medical care currently available in our country is provided by the NHSL ably administered by Dr. Anil Jasinghe. When you consider that the service is provided – as we say for emphasis – free gratis and for nothing, you realize how good is the health care system we have in our country. I hasten to add, however, that because it is good it does not mean it cannot be improved. Everything can be improved except perhaps Nirvana!
